Brownfields Redevelopment
“Brownfields” are properties which have been under-utilized and/or abandoned due to the presence, or possible presence, of environmental contamination. This situation creates impediments to traditional redevelopment. These properties often are eyesores as well as potential health and safety concerns for the community. Brownfield sites can include former industrial facilities, gas stations, commercial buildings, vacant land, and other types of blighted properties. Cleaning up and reinvesting in these properties helps to restore environmental quality, reduces blight, improves communities, and helps preserve green spaces and productive land.
FEA’s experienced and knowledgeable professionals have successfully completed numerous projects involving investigation, remediation, and redevelopment of brownfield properties throughout New Jersey. We understand the keys to a successful brownfield project including thorough due diligence, accurate site characterization, efficient use of funding, and incorporating redevelopment plans into the remediation process.
